Tell Me about yourself

Today after coming home from a camping trip and doing a million loads of laundry I had a quiet minute upstairs to sort the laundry. While doing this, I pushed play on Melissa Urban’s podcast “Do The Thing.”

It autoplayed to the next podcast “Tell Me About Yourself | Holley M. Kholi-Murchison” and from the introduction I was hooked. Holley wrote a book called “Tell Me About Yourself”

Holley worked at a education non-profit and her colleagues asked her to make a training to teach them how to introduce themselves. Holley planned it all out, conducted the training and then wrote the book.

This book is a gateway from introducing yourself from ‘just a teacher’ or ‘just a mom’ to really self-reflecting on who you actually are and sharing your purpose with the person you are talking with. Holley herself mentions that we don’t teach this in school so we end up navigating awkward introductions for a lifetime. No more with this book. It’s supposed to be a guide for you to really understand who you are, and what your beliefs are.  I immediately knew I needed to buy this book, read it and then figure out a way to scale it down for my students. Unfortunately, I will receive this book on September 3rd-the first day of school. But I know this would be so beneficial for my students and really myself.

This is another real-life skill students need to become successful in our connected world!

Can’t wait to dive into this book!
